Sioux Lookout’s incumbent mayor is seeking his fourth term as the municipality’s top elected official.

Doug Lawrance filed his paperwork on May 8 to run in this year’s municipal elections.

Lawrance told Newswatch that he’s enjoying his role as mayor, is engaged and believes he has considerable things to offer the community.

He ran unopposed in 2022, but won in 2018 with 41 per cent of the vote.

Nominations for the 2026 municipal and school board elections across Ontario opened on May 1 and close at 2 p.m. on Aug. 21.

Election day is Oct. 26.
