Slight change made to Lake of the Woods outflow

The Lake of the Woods Secretariat is allowing a slight decrease in the outflow of Lake of the Woods this weekend.

The outflow is dropping to 325 m3/s on Friday and to 300 m3/s on Saturday to balance conditions on the lake and the Winnipeg River.

The lake level declined by two centimetres over the past week.

The Secretariat says that despite some storm activities in parts of the region, much of the rainfall missed this basin.

The decrease in outflow is not expected to have much impact on the lake’s level, which the Secretariat says will likely remain stable.

It will cause the level of the Winnipeg River to decline by approximately 10 cm directly downstream of the Norman Dam and 4 cm above the Dalles.

The level at Minaki is not expected to be affected by the flow change.
