Small budget increase for Long Term Care homes in Kenora District

Municipalities in the Kenora District are on the hook for a four percent increase in their long term care budgets.

The Kenora and District Homes for the Aged presented their 2024 budget to municipal leaders over the weekend at the Kenora District Municipal Association conference.

CAO Michelle Spencer the municipal portion will be about $3.7 million, but that number jumps almost $4.6 million, if you factor in capital costs at the three long term care homes that it operates.

Funding covers the Pinecrest Home for the Aged in Kenora, Princess Court in Dryden and Northwoods Lodge in Red Lake.

The province still provides the lions share of the funding with $19.5 million of the $29.1 million dollar budget.
