Student Vote Canada encourages democratic participation

Student Vote Canada helps to bring democracy to life in classrooms across the country.

Nearly one million students at 7000 schools across the country are getting the opportunity to cast ballots, learn about political parties and platforms and debate the issues in advance of Monday’s federal election.

They aren’t old enough to legally vote, but this program prepares them in advance for when they are.

Delivered by CIVIX, in collaboration with Elections Canada, Student Vote Canada provides students with a meaningful way to experience the democratic process firsthand. Participating schools receive extensive learning materials and authentic voting supplies, including ballots, boxes, and voting screens to replicate the full experience of an election.

CIVIX has partnered with Elections Canada to deliver Student Vote during every federal election since 2004, and more than 9 million ballots have been cast by students across 69 elections.
