The Kenora and Lake of the Woods Community Foundation Annual Giving Challenge took place Thursday, Sept. 25, at the Northern Credit Union between 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., raising donations for the foundation’s endowment funds.
Executive Director, Lynn McAughey said the foundation raised a total of $32,678 from start to finish.

“We extend our thanks to our generous donors and community partners including Northern Credit Union and Acadia Broadcasting for making this a successful community event,” said McAughey.
“Our Annual Giving Challenge gave us the opportunity to connect with our existing donors, meet new donors as well as potential donors.”
At this event, grant recipients, donors, fund holders, sponsors, operational partners and volunteers gathered to show their support.
“The generous grants we have received from the Community Foundation have made this project possible,” said Judy Imbault, a Comfort Quilts volunteer who makes quilts for the Lake of the Woods District Hospital.
Richard Roy, a donor with the Canadian Pacific and Kenora Employees endowment said, “The foundation keeps the donations received and only uses the growth to give back as grants to local charities.”
On location, Darlene MacGillivray, the Community Engagement Coordinator at KLWCF; Lynn McAughey, the Executive Director at KLWCF; and Andrew Poirier, the Mayor of Kenora shared their message.
