Suspect arrested for theft of copper wire

The Kenora OPP say they have arrested a suspect in connection to the theft of some copper from a Bell Canada service line on Transmitter Road.

The incident took place on June 11th after a Bell employee reported that a man, dressed in black, had cut and removed cable before fleeing into the nearby bush.

A Toyota Tundra, associated with the suspect was left at the scene.

Officers along with the Emergency Response Team and a K-9 Unit searched the area and arrested a suspect.

He’s been charged with mischief over $5,000.

The damaged cable was recovered and the Tundra has been seized for identification purposed.

The OPP says this incident is separate to another investigation of copper wire theft in the Transmitter Road area.
