Terry Fox run marks 45th year

The Terry Fox Run returns for its 45th year this year.

Laurine Goerzen is one of the organizers of the Kenora run and says one fundraising mark has been set, and they are aiming for another one.

“Since the inception of the run we’ve raised over $700,000 and we had a really successful run last year, so we thought let’s set a goal of one million dollars by the end of the 50th year, which will be in 6 years…so we’re hoping we can make that.”

Goerzen adds they are raising funds before the run, including an on-line auction.

“We have something for everyone. There are gift cards, black earth, artwork, skating, rowing and biathlon lessons, minnows, beach packages. Pretty much anything you can think of.”

Nation-wide, the Terry Fox Run this year will take place on Sunday, September 14th.
