The body of a missing Norwegian hiker found

The search for a missing Norwegian trekker has ended tragically.

The body of Steffan Skjottelvik was found Sunday morning near York Factory, Manitoba.

The 29 year old was planning to trek along the Hudson’s Bay coast from Fort Severn, Ontario to York Factory, a distance of more than 300 kilometers.

He set out with his two dogs on July 25, but was last heard from on August 14th.

A helicopter located his body, and the RCMP, Parks Canada and a search and rescue crew confirmed his identity.

An autopsy will be performed in Winnipeg on Monday.
