The “Easyway” to quit smoking

89.5 the Lake Lake Afternoon Drive Logo

If you smoke, you’re not alone, about 3.6 million Canadians still do (roughly 11%). The good news is that number is way down from 50% in 1965.

The Canadian Cancer Society wants to push tobacco use under 5% by 2035. But I’m voting for zero, because you deserve mornings that don’t taste like yesterday, car rides without the “quick stop,” and coffee that tastes like coffee.

Heard of Allen Carr’s Easyway? It flips the script: instead of white‑knuckling it, and using finite willpower, you learn to lose the desire to smoke.

I spoke with Natalie Clays, Easyway’s director. Listen to the interview below to hear how it works and grab a couple of starter steps you can try today.

If this is your week, I’ve got you. Your lungs (and your wallet) will send a thank‑you card. (And be sure to tune into 89.5 the Lake to hear me, Caleb, on the afternoon drive, Mon-Fri, 2-6pm).
