Trudeau hosting economic summit to tackle tariffs, trade and U.S. relations

The Prime Minister is hosting an economic summit to deal with the U.S. tariff threat.

Justin Trudeau will invite members of the Council on Canada-U.S. Relations to Toronto tomorrow, according to a news release from the Prime Minister’s Office.

The goal is to bring together leaders in trade, business, public policy and organized labour.

Trudeau’s office says they will explore how to grow the economy, do more trade across provincial borders, and diversify exports.

The move comes after U.S. President Donald Trump was ready to hit Canadian exports with a 25 per cent tariff.

However, Trump has paused the tariffs for about a month.
