Two forest fires over the long weekend

Despite all the rain this weekend, there were two new forest fires reported.

Sioux Lookout Fire #6 is about 73 kilometers northeast of the Cat Lake First Nation.

The 3 hectare forest fire is listed as not under control.

The other blaze is Dryden #9.

It’s was a small 0.1 hectare wild fire located about 7 kilometers southwest of Vermilion Bay near Sportsman Bay.

It has since been declared out.

For the most part, the fire hazard is low to moderate in the southern half of northwest region, with a high to extreme hazard in the far north.
