Water levels on the rise

Outflow from the Norman Dam is being increased again.

The Lake of the Woods Control Board says that because water levels have risen more quickly that expected.

This past week, the lake has gone up by 17 centimeters (7 inches) and is expected to rise by another 10 to 18 centimeters (4 to 8 inches) over the next seven days, depending on how much rain we get this week.

To avoid the lake from filling up to quickly the Control Board says it will be increase in outflow today and on Wednesday.

Water levels on the Winnipeg River are expected to go up significantly, 58 centimeters (23 inches) by Thursday, and 38 centimeters (15 inches) at the Dalles and up to 18 centimeters (7 inches) in Minaki.
