Water pipe break causes hospital flood

Lake of the Woods District Hospital has confirmed the cause of a flood earlier this week.

It was a break in a one-inch pipe in a fourth floor washroom.

The hospital says will be pipe itself is relatively small, under typical building pressure, a break this size can release a lot of water in a short period of time.

An assessment team advised the hospital that the outcome could have been much more severe.

In the meantime, the hospital says the Emegency Department will be open this long weekend, but surgical operations are out of service until at least the end of the month.
