Weapons charges laid in Fort Severn

The Nishnawbe Aski Police say they have seized three firearms as a result of an assault investigation on the Fort Severn First Nation.

This past Thursday morning, police say they received a complaint of a man pointing a firearm at another person.

A search warrant was executed the next day and the firearms, ammunition and a high capacity magazine were seized.

NAPS say one of the rifles was prohibited.

As a result a 32 year man from Fort Severn faces a number of charges including assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and possession of a restricted weapon.

He’s been remanded into custody and will appear in court Tuesday on the charges.
