WestJet operations ‘stabilized’ after work stoppage

WestJet says its operations have stabilized following last week’s strike by aircraft engineers.

The airline is now anticipating “minimal” future cancellations in relation to the labour events.

More than 1,100 flights were cancelled after aircraft engineers walked off the job Friday during a peak travel period.

A tentative agreement was reached Sunday, putting an end to the work stoppage.

The airline was forced to park 130 of its 180 planes during the strike.

Before they could go back in service, each plane required standard maintenance and safety checks.
