Whitefish Bay First Nation resident charged with assault

One individual is facing assault charges following an incident in Kenora involving an edged weapon.

On Friday shortly after 4:00 p.m., members of the Ontario Provincial Police were advised of an assault that had occurred near Second Street South.

Officers and Emergency Medical Services located one person with non-life-threatening injuries. The individual was transported to a local hospital to be treated for their injuries.

As a result, a 36-year-old, Whitefish Bay First Nation resident has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with Assault with a Weapon.

The accused is being held in custody and was scheduled to appear before the court on February 20.
