Winter storm warnings in effect for Kenora andsurrounding areas

A Winter storm warning is in place for Kenora, Grassy Narrows, and Whitedog as ice pellets, freezing rain, and snow continue to impact the region.

Environment Canada is warning that ice pellets mixed with freezing rain will shift to snow by midday, with 10 to 15 centimeters of accumulation expected. Winds gusting up to 61 km/h are adding to hazardous conditions.

The temperature is expected to drop to -8°C by the afternoon.

Travel is expected to be difficult, with icy roads and reduced visibility. Authorities are urging drivers to avoid non-essential travel and be prepared for possible power outages due to accumulating ice.

More updates can be found through Environment Canada and local weather alerts.
