Flora Harriet (Tut) Boucha – King

October 11, 1932 – August 27, 2025 Beloved Mother, Grandma, Great-Gramma, Auntie, Sister, and Friend

With profound love, sorrow, and a deep sense of gratitude, we announce the passing of Flora Harriet King, affectionately known as “Tut,” who entered Heaven’s gates on August 27, 2025. At the perfect age of 92, surrounded by the love of her family. She was welcomed with open arms by her one true love, Clarence Walter King—“C.W.” as she lovingly called him. Their reunion in their Heavenly Dwelling Place is filled with the same love, joy, and peace that defined the most precious moments of their life together.

Flora was the cornerstone of five generations—a guiding light whose wisdom, warmth, and unwavering strength shaped the lives of all who knew her. Her legacy is etched not only in the stories she told and the traditions she passed down.

Born in Kenora, she lived a life marked by honour, generosity, and quiet courage. She raised her children with fierce devotion, instilling in them the values of compassion, hard work, and faith. As a mother, grandmother and great-great-grandmother, she remained a child at heart—whether tobogganing, swimming, canoeing, boating, hiking and fishing with all her family. She was a source of endless laughter and fun and comforting her family and friends in her own way.

Flora was raised in French Portage, Lake of the Woods, and attended French Portage School, located at Schoolhouse Point—a place that shaped her early years until the school was tragically lost to fire and never rebuilt. Her roots in the land and waters of Lake of the Woods ran deep, and they became the foundation of a life lived with purpose, resilience, and devotion.

In 1953, Flora married Clarence Walter King, the love of her life. In 1957, they relocated to Deepwater Bay, Falcon Island, where they built a life rooted in hard work and devotion. Flora worked tirelessly alongside Clarence in the commercial fishing industry—setting and lifting nets—and in 1957 made her first solo journey as the main fish freighter, boating loads of fish over 40 miles to Kenora’s fish markets. She became a self-taught mechanic, fixing all kinds of engines, and was also the family’s gill-net mender and Sower, stringing nets between trees and sewing them anew with floats and leads. Her hands were always busy; her spirit, always determined.

Flora was frugal, resourceful, and an exceptional cook. Her meals—often centered around fresh fish—were legendary and always accompanied by her great desserts. In her later years, she continued to enjoy boating in her own vessel up until her upper 80’s, tinkering with tools, and “doing things she wasn’t supposed to be doing”—a phrase that perfectly captures her spirited independence and playful nature.

Her Christian faith was strong which was woven into her actions, her compassion, which she showed every day. She lived with humility and gave generously of her heart, never seeking recognition.

Flora was predeceased by her husband and parents, Clarence (C.W) King (1984), Mike (Wm) Boucha (1989) and Flora Boucha (1984); siblings Ed (1958), Dig (Wm) (2006), Henry (1984), and Edith (1936); son-in-law Greg Matthews (2012); and daughter-in-law Margaret King (2025) and 4 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

Flora’s is survived by her nine children and their spouses: Elaine & Jack Unrau, Mike King, Edwin King & Kathy Friesen, (Joyce King), Ritalyn & John Thompson, Barb & Harry Sawchuk, Darlene Matthews, Colleen King, Raymond & Leona King, Roxanne & Roger Wilcott.

Flora’s legacy is vast and deeply rooted. She was the proud mother of 9 children, 29 grandchildren and their spouses which include: David & Holly Unrau, Jason & Shannan Unrau, Tamsen Unrau & Craig Reid, Larry Unrau, Tara & Jamie Gallick, Ashley King & Anna Beaulne,, Starr Trudeau, Natasha & Mark Brown, Santana King, Patrice & Drew Rudenko, Nikolas King, Tanis Thompson, James Thompson, Jeremy & Celleste Thompson, Jeff & Amanda Sawchuk, Kyla & Glenn McDonald, Ryan & Shannon Sawchuk, Kendra & Richard Madussi, DeVon Matthews & Megan Ramsey, Steven & Stacey King, Dustin King & Cheyenne Weatherall, Jake King & Jordy Hardy, Devon & Shawn Bruyere, Anthony Wilcott Calisha & Eric Sinclair, and Assia & Jared Carson, 49 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren. Also, Flora is survived by her loving siblings: sisters Gina Everson and Myrt Boucha, and brothers Gary and Wayne Boucha, and too many nieces and nephews to mention. Her family will continue to flourish, with each of them carrying forward the values she instilled: determination, perseverance, reverence for all of God’s creation, a passion for music, and above all, unconditional love—for the newborn, for family, and for one another.

Cremation was her wish, and in keeping with her gentle spirit, a Celebration of Life for all will take place summer of 2026 to celebrate and honour her life and share memories of joyful times and then a private family gathering will be held on LOTW her final wish was to be placed for all eternity beside her beloved Clarence Walter—a testament to a love that transcends time.

Flora was deeply loved beyond words and will never be forgotten and will be missed by many. Her presence was a gift, her memory will be a treasure and a blessing, and her legacy a light that will continue to shine through all who knew her.
