A new year means new recycling bins!
If you’re unsure what goes in them, I’ve got all the details, so why don’t we go through it together?
The new recycling program started Jan 1. Here’s what you can recycle:
- Paper and fibre: Cardboard boxes, boxboards, paper laminate packaging, paper laminate containers, cartons, and paper.
- Plastic and foam: Hard plastic containers, plastic packaging and containers, tubes.
- Metal: Metal containers, aluminum (foil and trays), aerosol containers.
- Glass: Glass containers.
Here’s what you can’t recycle:
- Books
- Toys
- Diapers
- Pots and Pans
- Hazardous materials
- Batteries
- Alcoholic beverage containers
And here are a few things to remember before you toss items in the bin:
- Rinse containers with food residue.
- Flatten cardboard boxes to save space.
- You can keep lids and labels on.
- Toss your items in once everything is clean and dry.
- Leave your bin at the curb by 7 a.m. on pickup day.
Let’s do our part in 2026!
