Lake of the Woods District Hospital it has established a temporary operating room.
The space is only for minor surgeries that don’t require full sedation or general anathesia.
So far, 41 procedures have been performed successfully.
The hospital is working with other medical facilities in the region after a flood damaged their surgical suites.
To date 42 surgeries have been completed at other operating rooms in the region.
Cheryl O’Flaherty is president and CEO of the hospital and says they have received good cooperation from other hospitals in the region.
“We are incredibly grateful to our regional partners and to our own teams for their collaboration, flexibility, and unwavering commitment to patient care,” says O’Flaherty.
“Despite the challenges following the flood, our focus remains on ensuring patients continue to receive safe, timely surgical care, as close to home as possible.”
The hospital says it’s working towards getting an interim surgical services Unit up and running.
