Anna Marie Lovas

February 17, 1950 – April 11, 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Anna Marie Lovas on April 11, 2026.

Anna was the beloved wife of John Lovas for 52 wonderful years. She was a loving and devoted mother to Eric Lovas (Pam Lovas) and Deanna Suke (Jeremy Suke), and a deeply cherished Baba to Zachary Dearlove, Jordan Lovas (Alix Daignault), Emma Suke, and Ellie Suke.

She was predeceased by her parents, Anna and Nick Serduletz; her brother, Bill Serduletz; and her mother and father-in-law, Arthur and Jesse Lovas.

Born in Austria, Anna immigrated to Canada with her parents when she was just 18 months old. She built a life centered on love, family, faith, and caring for those around her.

Anna had a heart of gold and was always giving to everyone around her. She was kind, caring, and deeply devoted to her family, who were always her greatest priority and the most important part of her world. She was the most loving mother and Baba, and her love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

She found joy in the simple and beautiful things in life. Anna loved her flowers and birds and could often be found tending to her garden or dreaming and planning for the next season. She loved all holidays, especially birthdays and Christmas, and took great joy in spoiling the people she loved and making every celebration feel special.

Anna was also known for the love she shared through food. Her family will forever remember her Ukrainian dishes, including her perogies and cabbage rolls, along with her homemade pies, fresh buns, and so much more. She loved to cook, bake, and host family dinners and celebrations over the years, creating countless memories around the table with the people she loved most.

In her early years as a mother, Anna stayed home to care for her family, a role she treasured deeply. Later, she spent several years working at Zellers, where she loved the sense of community, the friendships she built with her coworkers, and the many conversations she shared with customers who came through the store.

Anna was a spiritual woman whose words, “Have faith” and “God will provide,” brought comfort and strength to those around her. Her steady faith guided her through life and left a lasting impression on her family. She will be remembered for her warmth, generosity, unwavering love, and the quiet strength with which she cared for everyone around her. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.

Though our hearts are broken, we take comfort in knowing that Anna’s love will always remain with us. In moments when you miss her most, light a candle in her honour and think of her, her presence, her love, and the many beautiful memories she gave so freely.

Those wishing to honour Anna’s memory may make a donation to the Lake of the Woods District Hospital Foundation.

Funeral arrangements will be announced once they are confirmed.
