Danny Keewatin of Grassy Narrows First Nation passed away in Kenora at the age of 57 on October 17, 2023.
Danny is survived by his son Adam Keewatin, his sister Linda Redsky (Wayne); his brother’s Larry Keewatin (Shirley), Andew (Shoon) Keewatin (Lorna), Ivan Doull and son Aaron. His nieces, nephews and cousins, Feather Redsky (Diamond, Laney, Lindsay), Stella Keewatin (Devon, Sara, Emily, and Aaron) Genevieve Keewatin, Patricia Keewatin (Sage, Ziigwun, Nodin, Biidaabin, Animkii), Larry Keewatin Jr., Virgil Keewatin, Dion Keewatin, Cody Keewatin. Carolyn (gee) Kokopenace (Rory), Carla Kokopenace (Georgie), Cayla Kokopence (Brent) and Joseph Kokopenace, Reggie Paishk, Terry Boyd, Judy Boyd, Brenna Hunter, Valerie Boyd, Colleen Paishk, Patrick Paishk. Patricia Copenace and honorable mention Uncle John Paishk.
He was predeceased by his parents Horace Paishk and Janet Keewatin (Strong). His brother’s Melvin Keewatin, Parker Keewatin and sister Karen Keewatin. Uncles/Aunties; Colin and Maryjane Paishk, Frank Paishk.
Danny loved the outdoors and enjoyed spending time with his brother Shoon at his trapline. He loved his family and visited with them whenever he seen them in Kenora. He was always willing to give of his time whenever it was required. He grew up in Grassy Narrows and spent some time in Thunder Bay before returning to Kenora. He loved fishing and working with his hands.
A wake service will be held on Friday, October 27, 2023 at 11:00am at the Trappers Building in Grassy Narrows, Ontario. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at 11:00am at the Trappers Building with interment to follow in Grassy Narrows First Nation.
