It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ken Pride at the age of 87. Ken passed peacefully with family by his side.

Ken is predeceased by his parents Willis and Dorothy (Dunk) Pride.

Ken is survived by his daughters Karen (Roy) Costa Rica, Tracy (late Tim) North Carolina, sister Dody, brothers Calvin, Sidney and David, many nieces and nephews and longtime partner, Alice, Lively, ON.

Ken was born in Cornwall, ON. The family spent some time in Montreal, QC where his mother Dot was from and later in Dunville, ON where his father was stationed with the RCAF during WWII but, Long Sault was always home.

Ken was a featherweight boxer at Queen’s University, motorcycle racer and an avid archer in his youth. He eventually had a small archery business where he made custom bows, arrows and leather goods.

Ken attended Forestry Technical School in Dorset, ON. His career started in Kemptville, ON and in 1969 he moved north to Red Lake and then settled in Kenora at his beloved Culloden

Lake. Ken worked for the Department of Lands and Forests, Ministry of Northern Affairs and finally, Ministry of Labour. Ken was a true public servant and really enjoyed helping people. Ken was always active in the community working with Lions Club, PUFF Fire Hall and Air Cadets.

Ken enjoyed early retirement and enjoyed working at many hobbies at his home at Culloden Lake. Ken and family also ran Culloden Lake Camp for over 50 years welcoming guests from all over North America.

The Family would like to thank staff at Lake of the Woods District Hospital and Wiigwas for their kindness and compassionate care.
