Patricia Margaret Cederwall (MacKay)

December 3, 1937 – May 30, 2026

It is with much sadness we announce that mom passed away on May 30, 2026

Mom was born to Kathleen and James MacKay and spent most of her life here. She was raised in Lakeside and attended Southward School, Central School and Kenora Highschool.

After working for a short time at Heaths grocery store, she left to take training for R.P.N in Thunder Bay. She graduated in 1956 and returned to Kenora to start a long career at Kenora General Hospital (now L.W.D.H). She met her future husband Ted, and they were married in 1958. Kim arrived in 1960 followed by Kirk in 1962. In 1963 they moved to Lannon Wisc. to join her sister and family.

Mom went on to Milwaukee to write the Wisconsin State Board Exam and received her nursing licence to work in Wisc. She then started working at Menomonee Falls Community Hospital where she worked until the family returned to Kenora in 1970. Arriving back home she started work at KGH and worked there until she retired in 2002.

Wade arrived in 1971 and their family was now complete. Mom spent 20 years working in the maternity floor with the new moms and babies, which she thoroughly enjoyed as it was usually a happy (sometimes noisy) area.

Mom is survived by her family Kim Morrison (Don Palichuk), Kirk Cederwall, Wade Cederwall, grandson Michael Morrison (Jannah), and her 2 precious great granddaughters Emma and Lily Morrison.

She was predeceased by her parents, husband Ted, brothers Tom and Jim MacKay, sister and brother-in-law Arlene and Laverne Schultz and her grandson Jayson Morrison.

Teds family, Tommy Cederwall, Neil Cederwall, Doris and Dave McCabe, Catherine and Carl Welch, Mary and Laurence Poulin. Survived by Bill Cederwall (Hughette), Jim Cederwall (Susan), Debbie Pitt (Richard). Many nieces and nephews in Wisconsin and Canada.

Mom and her friend Shirley travelled to Europe in 1992 and while in France went to the Canadian War memorial at the Vimy Ridge. This was important to her as her dad was wounded here in 1917 and awarded the Military Medal of Honour for bravery.

Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will take place at a later date.
