Wesley Norlen

Wesley Norlen, born in Kenora, Ontario on August 9, 1940, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on July 17, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, humour, and cherished memories.

Wesley was an avid fisherman whose days were often spent on the Winnipeg river, casting lines and sharing stories. He was fondly known as the “River Rat”. His love for the outdoors was matched only by the time spent with family. Those who knew him well will remember his gentle demeanour and soft-spoken nature. He had a mischievous curiosity, a twinkle in his eye, an infectious laugh, and a beautiful smile that could brighten any room.

Wesley’s presence was a source of comfort and joy to all who knew him. His laughter and kindness will be deeply missed by his family and friends, who are left with fond memories and the many happy moments spent together. His memory will live on in their hearts, as well as in the quiet, peaceful waters where he loved to fish.

Rest in peace Wesley. Your laughter and love will be remembered always.

Our family gives thanks to Dr. Brad Kyle, Mike Limerick and the chemotherapy department at the Lake of the Woods district hospital.

There will be no official service, the family has had their private goodbye according to Wes’s wishes.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a charity supporting environmental conservation, reflecting Wesley’s deep appreciation for nature.
