Sandy Lake First Nation adds Emergency First Response Team

The Sandy Lake First Nation is the latest community in northern Ontario to form an Emergency First Response Team.

The team provides urgent medical care until professional care arrives in the community.

The program provides essential medical equipment, a patient transport vehicle as well as trained first responders.

Ornge Air Ambulance also provide on-going support for the program.

First Responders are trained to provide first aid, CPR, and patient transport from the community’s medical clinic to the airport.

A number of First Nations have already created similar Emergency First Response teams.
