Storm leaves flooded roads, outages across Kenora

Flooded roads, downed trees and scattered debris are being reported across the Kenora area after a severe storm moved through.

Ontario 511 reported that Highway 641 is closed because of flooding, and drivers are being asked to avoid the route until conditions improve.

The Kenora OPP said 9th Street North is also flooded, and police have not released any updated information on road conditions.

The OPP reported the flooding on Bernier Drive and parts of Transmitter Road, along with debris and washouts in several areas on Monday.

Debris, downed trees and washouts have also been reported in several areas.

Hydro One’s outage map shows two outage zones affecting more than 3,400 customers, with an estimated restoration time of 1 p.m. Tuesday.

A separate outage on Coney Island is also being repaired.

Synergy North said a downed primary line caused that outage, and crews were working Monday evening to restore service.

Officials are asking residents to use caution around flooded roads, avoid driving through standing water and give cleanup crews space to work.
