Viral video shows CN train surrounded by wildfire flames near Armstrong

Kiiwetinoong MPP Sol Mamakwa shared a dramatic video from freight train workers as wildfire flames burned near Collins First Nation, close to Armstrong.

A CN spokesperson confirmed to Acadia Broadcasting that the crew was safely evacuated from the area Monday night. All operations near Armstrong have been suspended due to the wildfires.

“CN remains in close contact with the Ministry of Natural Resources and local authorities as the situation continues to evolve,” the company wrote. “The safety of our employees, the community, and emergency responders remains our top priority.”

The OPP has issued mandatory evacuation orders for Armstrong, Collins First Nation, Gakijiwanong Anishinaabe Nation (Lac La Croix First Nation), Gull Bay First Nation, Lac des Mille Lacs First Nation and Whitesand First Nation.
